The expansion of CEMLI is Configuration, Extension, Modification, Localization, and Integration. Customization can be defined as simple as Extension + Modification + Personalization, all or one or combination of any. There are

  • Configuration is setting up the application according to the business requirement. This includes Basic Users adding into the Gold Instance, Profile Option Values, and required setups.
  • Extension is a complete development solution from the scratch. The solution may be involved with custom schema, and objects. This may use the standard interfaces or public APIs.
  • Modification is as simple as the word states. Take the standard form, report, workflow, OAF Page or any object provided with Oracle ERP, and modify according to the business requirement.
  • Localization is more of a functional requirement according to the local requirements. Sometimes, the localization may cause the customization to fit the gap between the business requirement, and the standard Oracle ERP.
  • Integration is to integrate with the other systems available inside or outside the organization. For example, consider PeopleSoft is used to maintain HR, and Oracle EBS is used for Manufacturing. The integration between PeopleSoft and Oracle EBS maintains the Labor Details, and the Labor Cost portion of the manufacturing. Payment Transaction between the banks is a simple example to integrate with the external systems.
  • Using OUM methodology, the business Requirements Documented in RD.xxx, Requirement Analysis in RA.xxx, Conversion in CV.xxx, Analysis in AN.xxx, Design in DS.xxx, Implementation in IM.xxx, and finally Testing in TE.xxx documents.
